Elk Grove draws families for its newer homes, larger lots, and the Elk Grove Unified School District. Most of the housing dates from the 1990s onward, with master-planned communities such as Laguna and Laguna West near Highway 99 and Interstate 5.
Old Town Elk Grove keeps a small-town main street, while the rest of the city is organized around parks, trails, and shopping. The commute downtown is straightforward, and buyers generally get more square footage here than in central Sacramento.
